Thanks to our fundraising during the recent film night at school, the PE stores are now fully stocked with nearly £1700 of new equipment.
All Key Stages in school were able to submit an order for the new sports equipment and this arrived during Sports Day 2016.
Take a look at some of the sports gear we were able to purchase!!
A big thank-you to all who helped with the film night as this type of fundraising benefits ALL children within school.

Once again we eagerly anticipate Sports Day which is scheduled for Thursday 02 June. If the weather is inclement we will move this to Friday 03 June and so on.
As the weather has been particularly good this week we would encourage you to send your child / ren to school with sun screen, a hat and water.
Children may wear casual sports clothing but it is particularly important that they wear the correct footwear.
The Sports Day will commence at 9.30am on the MUGA pitch.
Break will operate between 10.30am and 11.00am. Tea / coffee and shortbread will be on sale in the School Assembly Hall.
Seating will be at a premium once again so feel free to bring along summer chairs or rugs etc.
Please see the diagram below which highlights the Year Group Zones. As the whole school sports run simultaneously you may need to rotate between these zones if you have several children attending the school.
Please note that parking will be limited in the school grounds therefore it may be more convenient for you to park on the Main Street and walk up the path into school.
As always, thank you for your continued support of all school events.

As part of the Irish Cup Final build up, Glenavon Football Club is giving our children a unique opportunity to win tickets for the final to be held at Windsor Park on Saturday 07 May 2016. On that day, Glenavon take on Linfield Football Club in what promises to be a very special occasion.
Glenavon FC, which has a strong connection to Waringstown Primary School with its current manager Gary Hamilton having attended and played for the school, will be supplying two major prizes for our children, to be won on Friday 06 May. On that day, Gary will come into school and will make the prize draw during assembly.
In return, Gary asks that EVERYONE wear something blue on that day in support of Glenavon. A voluntary contribution of £1 will be collected from each child, with all proceeds going to the Brain Tumour Research Charity in Northern Ireland. This is the charity which helped Mark Farren, a popular Glenavon Striker during his illness and although Mark passed away, this charity will benefit from our donations.
Summary:-
- All children to wear blue during the non uniform day in support of Glenavon Football club on Friday 06 May.
- A voluntary contribution of £1 is required and will go to Mark Farren’s chosen charity - Brain Tumour Research Northern Ireland.
- All children will be entered in the draw for 2 cup final tickets (1 adult + 1 child)
- Also, if a child buys ANYTHING from Glenavon’s club shop they must give in their name and on 06 May, Gary Hamilton, during assembly, will make another draw for these children with the prize being 2 season tickets from Glenavon Football Club (1 adult +1 child). This prize is worth close to £200!!
These are superb prizes on offer and if Glenavon win the Irish Cup, Gary has promised to bring the cup into school for all the children to see!
We hope we have your full support in backing Glenavon in this Charity venture and look forward to the prize draw during assembly on 06 May!
As Gary’s old school, we take this opportunity to wish Glenavon Football Club every success in the final on Saturday 07 May.

We have now registered to do 'The Daily Mile,' which we will be officially starting on Monday 16 May in conjunction with Travelwise NI’s ‘Walk to School’ week
The aim of The Daily Mile is simple – to help all children improve their physical, emotional and social health and wellbeing by doing at least 15 minutes of physical activity each day.
The children walk, jog or run with their classmates in the safety of their own playground. Everyone has fun taking part- it is not PE and it is not competitive- while building fitness, relationships, confidence and resilience.
For more information, go to http://thedailymile.co.uk.

Thursday 03 March is World Book Day so it is time to celebrate all the fun, inspiration and learning we can achieve from a great book!
As part of our celebrations we are giving every child from P1 – P4 the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book character and bring in a suggested £1 donation for an amazing charity called Book Aid. This charity supplies reading materials to children all over Africa including refugee camps. Supporting Book Aid means we can help a very worthwhile cause while celebrating World Book Day.
To help with dress up ideas, visit the Book Aid International website for free down loadable ideas for dressing up at www.bookaid.org/worldbookday
As well as dressing up, each class will be having lots of fun Literacy activities going on throughout the day.
We look forward to celebrating World Book Day while helping others!
Many thanks for your support of this venture,
D McClelland

Today in school there were lots of GIRLS out of school uniform! However, it was all for a good reason. The girls who attend the local Brownies' pack were taking part in their annual thinking day.
These pictures show just how many girls took part in this wonderful inititative. There were lots of Rainbows, Brownies and even some Girl-Guides who enjoyed wearing their uniform into school to mark the occasion.
