Mr Geddis from Avondale foods presents a new rugby kit to the school Principal Mr C McCambley and Mr I Somerville (School Rugby Coach) during a recent visit to the school.
The kit with the Country Kitchen brand across it also bears the school badge and certainly is a very welcome sponsorship for the school rugby team.
Mr McCambley thanked Mr Geddis for the beautiful kit and hoped that our parents would support the Avondale Foods/Country Kitchen Brand!

Friday 07 is our Freddy Fitness Challenge Day.
We are eagerly anticipating this fund raising event tomorrow which is our first sponsorship event for i-challenge WPS.
We are delighted to be able to inform you that through generous parental donation / sponsorship we have 12 i-pads already promised to date.
We have been reminding children to wear sports clothes tomorrow to allow for freedom of movement during the event. Children must wear training type shoes.
It is also very important that children bring a jumper and coat to school too as we hope to get outside over Break and Lunch.
Tomorrow, we plan to give each child either an apple, orange or banana as part of their healthy break.

This year as part of a focused fund raising campaign we as a staff wish to resource the school with 30 i-pads. In school, we have a bank of 30 lap tops which are timetabled for use throughout the school.
To enhance our current technology we would like to purchase 30 i-pads as they contain many outstanding educational apps. The i-pads could also be used when the children are engaged in Internet research thus freeing up the laptops for word-processing activities, data-handling work or spread sheet activities.
We wish to launch the appeal with Fitness Freddy who is coming to school to take a Health and Fitness Challenge with the whole school. This will entail a sponsored session with each Year Group in the Assembly Hall. Children are asked to gain sponsorship for this event … please refer to the Freddy Fitness sponsorship form attached to the booklet already given to the children.
We would also be very interested to hear from any parent who may wish to sponsor an i-pad for the school.
A school i-pad costs approx £330.
- Very generously, Mr G G Kennedy has bought i-pad No 1 as a retiring gift to the school
- The staff have made a very generous gesture by donating enough money to buy i-pad No 2
There will be a fundraising i-padometer (there’s a new word!) in the mall for you to monitor our progress as we seek to achieve our target.
The PTA will also be in touch through the website regarding fundraising events to support this initiative.
Our current plans for Term One are as follows:
- Freddy Fitness sponsorship … A sponsored fitness session with Freddy Fitness who promotes a healthy lifestyle and fitness programme in schools. The fitness session would last 45 mins / Year Group. This is scheduled for Friday 07 November.
- Design a Christmas Card … each child designs a card that is then professionally printed and sold for Christmas postage in packs of 12. We trialled this initiative in 2011.
- A family Table Quiz in the Assembly Hall.
In conclusion, may I remind you that any parent interested in sponsoring an i-pad should please contact me directly on the school number which is:
02838 881367
Thank you for your continued support in all school matters!
Yours sincerely
C McCambley
(Principal)
