If you're needing a last minute Mother's Day gift (perfect for any mother or grandmother) , we still have a small amount of Cook Books still for sale. With recipes for starters such as 'Cranberry & Brie Parcels' or 'Beef Teriyaki Lettuce Cups,' and mains such as 'Mexican Chicken Quinoa' or 'Creamy Chilli Prawn Linguini,' you can't go wrong (and I haven't even mentioned the desserts)! All these recipes have been provided by friends, parents and grandparents of the school and include lists of all the ingredients and instructions you'll need in how to make the wonderful dishes.
If you are interested in purchasing these the cost is £5 for 1 or £8 for 2. Pupils can come directly to Mrs McCracken, Mrs Parker or Mr Gault or have the Cook Books. All proceeds go towards School Funds.

Charlene Barr was a past pupil of Waringstown P.S. so the Charlene’s Project Charity is one that is close to our hearts. When we heard about the refugee school supported by Charlene’s Project we felt it was something we wanted to support as well as encourage our children to read more on World Book Day. The journey all started last Friday when Mrs McClelland's P4 class hosted a World Book Day assembly to get everyone in the mood for a super day and most importantly to let everyone know the charity we would be supporting, and about the children who have had to leave their homes in Syria and now are attending refugee schools. The class assembly also highlighted that while we have a all sorts of fabulous books, it would be good to share with these children who have very little. Charlene ‘s Project is a charity that works in Uganda, Guatemala and now with refugee children and to date almost a thousand children are being educated who otherwise would not be, thanks to the work and vision of Charlene Barr. We are delighted to be giving them £160 pounds which we raised on World Book Day

So on to our world Book Day celebrations, made all the more special as we knew as well as celebrating World book Day we would be helping other children across the world, our children were involved in a variety of activities. Nursery and Foundation Stage dressed up as their favourite book characters and brought in their favourite books. Even the teachers and assistants dressed up! The children enjoyed listening to lots of stories and then illustrated their favourite characters in their year books. This is a day they will remember for a long time! In KS1 The P3’s had “The Twits” day! Here they discussed the book, talked about the setting and chose different characters to write about. Some P3’s even created their own puppets for some drama workshops! P3’s also enjoyed their P4 neighbours visiting their class to read ebooks which the P4’s had previously created on Arctic animals! The P4 children then had a Midnight Gang day, where they were looking at David Walliam’s new novel. They made membership badges, certificates, discussed the characters and wrote another chapter to the novel! P5’s were busy writing their own novels for World Book Day and P6’s celebrated by designing a World Book Day Poster as well as presenting their favourite books to the class, their day finally ended with a game of Charades – guess that book!
The whole school participated in a DEAR – Drop Everything and Read – when the school bell rang four consecutive rings - everyone throughout the whole school, dropped everything and read!
It really was a fun day, made all the more special by helping others!

Today in Waringstown Primary School we had a really special treat. The New Life Choir from Uganda came in to host a very special assembly filled with African song and dance.
A small choir of very energetic children performed lots of songs for a very eager audience. The Waringstown pupils and staff were blown away by the amazing lively songs and the vibrant performance from the choir. Some pupils and staff from Waringstown even got to dance and sing along. It certainly was an enjoyable morning.
The children from the choir stayed with us after assembly for a little while and joined our KS2 children on the Top Pitch for break-time play. The children were welcomed as new friends and a memorable break-time was had.
If you wish to catch their full performance they will be at Waringstown Presbyterian Church this evening at 7pm tonight.
Below is a video with some highlights from the performance.
