P5-P7 Boys' Cricket Commences

Term 3 brings the start of Boys' Cricket. We have had a fantastic turnout each week of over 40 boys. The boys have been treated to some expert coaching from Waringstown Cricket Club professional Shaheen Khan, along with first eleven player James Mitchell. All of the boys have displayed an excellent attitude and desire to improve their skills. Well done boys! Keep it up!

Cricket Resumes P5-P7

Cricket has resumed for all children P5-P7 who are interested in the sport.

The first session took place on Tuesday 19th April 2016, with over 40 in attendance for what usually proves a very popular sport within Waringstown Primary School.

Great skills were on show by all children and the teachers Mr Brown, Mr Somerville and Mr Gault were very impressed.

Mr Ian Abraham, a past parent who is associated with Waringstown Cricket Club, will again be helping out with cricket this year. Thanks Ian, we really appreciate it!

The next cricket session will be held on Tuesday 10th May 2016 3:00 pm to 3:55pm

All Ireland Cricket Success!

Waringstown Cricket Club Under 11 proved themselves the best team in Ireland on Thurs 30th August. They went to the home of the Leinster champions Clontarf and beat them by 54 runs.

Jack Carson scored a quite magnificent 121 not out and he was ably supported by important contributions of 15 from James Humphreys and 21 from Ross Cockcroft. The Waringstown total of 187 for 4 was never threatened by Clontarf and accurate bowling by J. Humphreys, J. Abraham, J. Froggatt, S. Topping and J. Carson kept the Clontarf batsmen under control. This team had a remarkable season also beating Instonians in the final of the Quoile Cup. They have finished the cricket season unbeaten in all competitions – a truly noteworthy achievement.

Cricket Success

Congratulations to the boys from P6 & P7 who have both been selected to join the Northern Cricket Union U11 Regional Development Squad for 2013.

The boys have been attending indoor training sessions with the N.C.U. squad in Belfast and are looking forward to the start of the cricket season and some sunshine – hopefully!

Summer term Tuesday 3.00 – 3.55 pm

Waringstown Primary School Cricket Club runs for several sessions in the summer term. During this time each member is taught the fundamentals of cricket and encouraged to attend the local cricket clubs for further progress.

From the primary school club, a dedicated squad is chosen, who then attend the local cricket lawns for further practices leading up to matches against neighbouring schools.

The cricket team has won everything possible both locally and nationally from all Mid-Ulster titles to being crowned champions of Northern Ireland in Kwik-Cricket in 2008.

Although cricket is played by fewer and fewer primary schools, our cricket team prides itself in its appearance, always sporting traditional whites.

Both girls and boys are involved at all levels of cricket in Waringstown Primary School and the school can boast the achievements of past pupils who have gone on to represent their country at international level.
