Today in school as part of our Green Day Assembly we had lots of other things to celebrate too!
Firstly, we celebrated with lots of swimmers from Primary 7 who were receiving certificates for distance badges from 15m right up to 1000m! We also had a large number of children who had attained their survival award and were presented with their certificates as well. Congratulations to all the children and thanks to Mrs McElhinney, Mr Brown and Mr Gault for taking the P6 and P7 Children to swimming all year.
Secondly, we celebrated with a large number of P4 and P7 children who were receiving certificates for taking part in the Literacy Club. The Primary 7 children worked with the Primary 4 children to mentor them and help them in areas of literacy. They all received certificates for their efforts. A big thank Goes to Mrs McClelland for all the hard work she put into this important initiative.
Thirdly, we celebrated with another large number of children who received certificates and awards from various sports and other activities outside of school. There were awards for every thing from rugby to gymnastics!
After this the children were shown the face melds from the School Fete. This had proven to be a very tough competition and no-one managed to correctly identify all the pairs of teachers. The winning entry managed to correctly identify 14 out of the 18 images! The winner was announced and they received a prize of a box of Heroes!
Finally, we celebrated with Miss Young a student teacher who has been working alongside Mrs Munce in Primary 2. Today was her final day of School placement in Waringstown. We wish her every success for the future and we will miss her as she moves on to begin a post in her new school.
We should not forget the fact that we had a great sing along as part of our fundraiser. Please check out the video podcast in the article below to she how we got on.
What a super day for the whole school!

The Green Day in Waringstown Primary School which was organised to celebrate the achievements of our national football team, proved a massive success within school.
Children dressed in green and came together in the assembly hall to sing songs.
The day also was to raise money for a defibrillator in school and the grand total of £543 was collected on the day. What a magnificent total. Thank you so much to the pupils, staff and parents for their continued support.
Mr McCambley was so delighted with this amount that a defibrillator was ordered and should be in school for the start of the new school year. What a wonderful and life saving piece of equipment. The staff training is also scheduled for August. We are thankful for such a wonderful piece of life saving technology but the irony is WE HOPE WE NEVER HAVE TO USE IT!
Thank you to everyone for your total support
Please take a look at the video below showing the highlights of the day.

On Tuesday 21st of June we will be having a very special appeal in school.
We are having a "greenday" in school to celebrate the last Northern Ireland group game against Germany. The children will be asked to come into school wearing a green item of clothing. Each child will be asked to bring in a minimum donation of £1 and all the proceeds will go towards purchasing a Lifesaving defibrillator machine.
There will be a special assembly on the day and I am reliably informed that there may well be some singing!
Watch out for photos and videos of the on the website tomorrow afternoon.
Also please see the attached note for further details of the day.
Thank you in anticipation of your support for what we hope you will agree is a very worthy cause.

What a wonderful evening Thursday 09 June turned out to be!
The School Fete saw the whole school community coming together to support school funds.
The grand total of £7,000 was raised consigning last year’s figure of £6,100 into history!
We must say a huge and sincere thank youto all our sponsors who donated many gifts to the auction and raffle and also to the many parents who helped to man a stall. There were parents who stayed behind too to help with the clear up and this was much appreciated. It meant that the school opened on Friday in a very fine state thanks to the much appreciated work on Thursday evening!
The School Canteen staff, under the supervision of our Catering Manager, Mrs V McCormick are to be congratulated and thanked too due to the large number of meals served! Well done indeed!
We have a wonderful team working and supporting us in Waringstown Primary School.
Your generosity will make a HUGEdifference in the life of ALL of the children in Waringstown Primary School.
