Sports Day will now take place tomorrow, Friday 02 June.
The previous article concerning Sports Day outlines the procedures for the day. Thanks again to the Rev Martin for allowing us the use of the Holy Trinity Church Car Park as an overflow. We know that the patrons of the Village Mace need their own car park so the overflow in the church car park will help the school greatly.
The Kitchen Staff served a lovely meal today in the Dining Hall and the children enjoyed the party atmosphere with some music. Some additional dance moves were shared over the lunch period BY … THE … CHILDREN!
Thank you to our Cook, Mrs V McCormick and her team, for a lovely day. The Primary Seven children also decorated the Dining Hall with sports related posters and bunting so all in all we celebrated in great style even though the rain stopped play for the day.
The normal traditional meal will be served tomorrow.

Once again we eagerly anticipate Sports Day which is scheduled for Thursday 01 June. If the weather is inclement we will move this to Friday 02 June and so on. As the weather has been particularly good, we would encourage you to send your child / ren to school with sun screen, a hat and water.
Children may wear casual sports clothing but it is particularly important that they wear the correct footwear.
The Sports Day will commence at 9.20am sharp on the MUGA pitch.
Break will operate between 10.30am and 11.00am. Tea / coffee and shortbread will be on sale in the School Assembly Hall.
Seating will be at a premium once again so feel free to bring along summer chairs or rugs etc.
Please see the diagram below which highlights the Year Group Zones. As the whole school sports run simultaneously you may need to rotate between these zones if you have several children attending the school.
Please note that parking will be limited in the school grounds. Therefore, it may be more convenient for you to park on the Main Street and walk up the path into school. The Church of Ireland has kindly agreed to open their church car park on Sports Day which should alleviate the pressure on the Mace and village parking. Thank you Rev Martin!
For a parent, grandparent or relative with disability concerns please feel free to park in the Main Staff Car Park right beside the MUGA Pitch.
As always, thank you for your continued support of all school events!
NB If Sports Day has to be cancelled due to inclement weather, we shall place an announcement on the school website by 8.30am on the day!

The Inter Schools swimming gala took place at Waves Complex Lurgan on Wednesday 17th May. Eleven teams entered the gala so heats were required before each final.
Waringstown Primary School entered a very strong team and were very successful in every race. The highlight of the gala is always the relay races at the end and our swimmers were outstanding, bringing home EIGHT gold medals, numerous silver and quite a few bronze. Mr. Brown and Mrs. McElhinney were extremely proud of our swimmers who finished SECOND overall with very stiff competition. Well done to all of team!

One of our retired teachers, Mrs A McCollum came into the school over the course of several weeks to coach our boys' hockey after school.
A lot of boys attended her coaching sessions which were both challenging and good fun. At the end of each session, Mrs McCollum kept a record of each boys achievement. On the final day, Mrs McCollum then presented the McCollum cup to the most outstanding player with the highest goals tally!
Congratulations goes to Lukas Moles from Primary Seven who stood out as the hockey player of the year 2016-17. Well done to Lukas. A superb achievement in your final year!!
Also a big thank-you to Mrs McCollum who came in to coach our boys free of charge!!

After yet another successful Easter Football Camp, the Bee Active coaches made a very generous donation to the PE department of our school.
This allowed Mr Brown to purchase additional sports equipment for our PE store on the MUGA pitch. Items such as footballs, rugby balls, hockey equipment, hoops and much more were purchased by the school early in May.
A massive thank you goes to all the coaches, especially our own parents Mr Moran and Mr Magee. Thank-you men for your generous donation. It is greatly appreciated.

Yesterday two team from Waringstown Primary School travelled to Royal School Armagh to complete in the Sentinus K'nex 2017 Challenge heats. The boys weren't told the task until they arrived, which they got stuck straight into. The task was to build a bridge which could support a toy car. The bridge was to also be of good structure, and have a good look to it.
Both teams did really well, with one of the teams coming runners up in the heats, which means they will be representing the school at in the finals, being held in UUJ in June.
Well done to our future engineers.
