Today our whole school joined together for a Remembrance Assembly. Mr McCambley led the assembly, highlighting the importance of the Poppy, explaining to the children how the leaf of the poppy should always be set at the 11 o'clock position. This is to remind us of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when the armistice was signed. The children participated in the assembly and carried out the act of remembrance to remember those who died.

Primary One had a fantastic day investigating pumpkins. We learnt that they are vegetables and how they grow from a seed in a pumpkin patch. We looked at the pulp and the seeds and carved a friendly pumpkin face. Miss Carson and Mrs Morrissey made delicious pumpkin soup for their classes to taste. It was yummy and very healthy! We had 2 pumpkins stories – ‘Pumpkin Soup’ by Helen Cooper and ‘The Pumpkin Patch Parable’. The parable contained a Christian message. A bible verse can be found on the back of the masks which we made during Structured Play. Enjoy looking at the photos. Can you guess who we are behind our masks??

Scripture union have had a wonderful first term of fun and Bible teaching. We have been thinking about being 'Thankful and fruitful'. We learned about the parable of the sower and Ruth and Boaz. We played seed games and our memory verse for this term was Psalm 107:1 "Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His steadfast love endures forever." The children learned sign language for this verse and had to rearrange fruit and vegetables to put the verse in the correct order. We are so thankful to Suzie from Waringstown Presbyterian church who came and taught us about the fruits of the Spirit and how we had to be connected to Jesus, the vine, for us to grow fruit. What a fun few weeks!
