The whole school came together to celebrate the real meaning of Christmas in an Assembly led by Mr McCambley.

Many of the Christmas traditions were explained by Mr McCambley.  The focus at the end was the Nativity scene where Baby Jesus was placed right at the HEART of our celebrations. We closed the assembly with a rendition of ‘Away In A Manger’ and a prayer.

Primary 3’s Egg-citing Big Buggy Race!

This week, Primary 3 class put their creativity and scientific curiosity to the test with a fantastic investigation involving toy buggies made from egg cartons.

The children designed their own buggy and showcased a wonderful selection of colourful designs on the starting grid. The fun didn’t stop there as the budding engineers went on to race their vehicles on various surfaces to observe how the different textures affected the speed and performance of their buggies.

From the smooth wooden floor in the assembly hall to bumpy tarmac in the playground we tested the buggies to their limit! The children had great fun and enjoyed a healthy dose of competition. It was a joy to see their excitement as they cheered on their buggy and their competitive spirit was infectious!

Well done, Primary 3!

We have been having a Polar Express week in Primary 2!!

On Monday, our classroom had turned into a train and the children all came into school in their pyjamas!  The P2 staff were dressed as train conductors, waitresses and chefs or in their pjyamas too!  We had hot chocolate and cookies onboard the Polar Express and listened to the story.  All week, our literacy and numeracy were based upon the story and we wrote our own version of the Polar Express.

Primary 7- Zero Waste Champions Programme

Published: 29 November 2024

This year we are very excited to be a pilot school for the Zero Waste Champions Programme. Their vision is to educate and equip young people to become change makers at this crucial time in the Climate Emergency.   The programme aims to embed the Circular Economy in schools across Northern Ireland, providing young people with knowledge about the Circular Economy and designing waste out of their schools.

This week Primary 7 Mrs Humphrey’s class welcomed representatives from Northern Ireland Resources Network and Ostrero (a Scottish based Circular Economy organisation) into school.

The pupils were introduced to the term Circular Economy and discussed their knowledge and behaviour with regards to waste reduction.  They then took part in a practical session designing and creating a bag using scrap materials.  The creativity was wonderful to see and all pupils were really engaged in the task.  They are now looking forward to the next workshop which will take place in Term 2. Please view more images below.

In P2, our children have been learning about 'Wonderful me'.  We have learned about our faces and bodies and what our skeletons look like.  We learned about our 5 senses and about our families.  We enjoyed making pizza faces using healthy food. We have also been learning about 3d shapes and enjoyed eating pringles from a 'cylinder' container and having ice-cream in a 'cone' as a Friday treat!
