Sports day 2022 was a huge success!

The children all enjoyed the races and events.  The day was made ever so special with parents, grandparents and friends in attendance.  Thankfully the rain stayed away long enough for every class to participate and enjoy the day.

On Monday the boys and girls from the Jubilee Performing Arts afterschool club treated the whole school to an assembly to celebrate the life of our Queen.

The children worked so hard learning lines, catchy songs and even producing artwork to decorate the stage.

It was so wonderful to have everyone together in assembly again and we are so proud of the children for putting on such a great performance.

Please enjoy watching our assembly at home.

TITANIC VISIT

In conclusion to our WAU topic on the Titanic both p7 classes spent a very interesting day visiting the Titanic exhibition in Belfast.

We had the pleasure of being taken through the Titanic experience by an excellent tour guide who provided the children with many fascinating facts.

The tour took us through nine galleries, telling the story of RMS Titanic, from her design in Belfast in the early 1900s, through her construction and launch, to her famous maiden voyage and tragic end. The galleries are innovative and interactive with many features including diving to the depth of the ocean to explore where RMS Titanic now rests. The Titanic story is told at Titanic Belfast in a fresh and insightful way.

Many of the galleries capture the excitement of launch day, as well as transporting us from four embarkation ports, Belfast, Southampton, Cherbourg and Queenstown (now known as Cobh) to Titanic’s deck promenade. The children were not only able to see and hear the ocean and feel the ships engines rumbling on board at the Palm Court Café but could also meet Fredrick Dent Ray, a dining room steward and survivor. The Maiden Voyage gallery includes an original first class luncheon menu dated April 14, 1912, as well as the last letter ever to be written on board the Titanic by Eva Harte.

The visit concluded with a chance to walk along the slipway to experience the true size and greatness of this majestic ship!

Primary 1 Fly to the Sun

Primary 1 had a day they'll never forget!

The children came to school wearing their shorts and t-shirts and with their suitcases ready for a flight to the sun on Waringstown Airlines.  We couldn't believe our eyes when Captain McCambley came in to tell the boys and girls that the aeroplane was now ready to board.  So we gave the children their passports, put their luggage in the hold and went through check-in where they got their boarding passes.  The children had to make sure they weren't carrying any sharp items as they went through security and into the departure lounge. We then boarded the plane and watched a safety announcement and sat back ready for take off.

After take-off the children relaxed and enjoyed an inflight snack served by the Cabin Crew. It was a very safe and pleasant flight and we all had the best day dressing up as part of our Fun in the Sun topic.

Primary 7 Our Waste, Our World

Our Waste, Our World.
We’re very aware of looking after our environment in P7. On Tuesday , Pete, from Habitat for Humanity conducted a workshop to help us understand the impact waste has on the world and what we can do about it. We were shocked by how long it takes some of our waste to disintegrate!
Pete gave us lots of ideas about how to reuse and repurpose some items that would normally get thrown away - we hope you like the old, donated tiles we repurposed as coasters.
