Dear Parents,
If you are an identified Key Worker as listed below, please consider the following points before sending your child to school:
-
Only children with a parent working as a key worker on shift during school hours should consider attending school. In single parent families, the individual parents MUST be a Key Worker
-
If possible, alternative childcare arrangements should be sought* before deciding to send your child to school. Use school as a last resort in order to limit the number of children and adults congregating together; social distancing cannot be guaranteed in a school setting
-
If your child is attending, he / she must be wearing full school uniform (and trainers) and bring their Home Learning Pack, Break and Packed Lunch.
-
Schools are being asked to provide Child Care NB teachers WILL NOT be delivering normal teaching and learning
- Opening times match your child's normal school day (ie Nursery 8.45am - 11.45am, P1-P3 8.45am - 2.00pm, P4-P7 8.45am - 3.00pm)
Remember:
DO NOT send your child to school if:
-
He / she is unwell
-
Any member of your family is unwell
-
Any member of your family is in the ‘vulnerable’ category
*Social distancing and good hygiene are VITAL to preventing the spread of Covid-19. Your child is significantly safer at home than in any other setting.
If you require the services of the school, please email me in strictest confidence
with the following information by 4.00pm today so we know which and how many children will be in school each day next week:
-
Your name
-
Which Key Worker category you and, if relevant, your partner falls in to
-
Which day (s) your child will be in school between 23 and 27 March 2020
Best wishes to all of you and your families.

Dear parents
The school has now closed. We have a further set of instructions, especially relevant, to families that are self-isolating at present.
Several of the staff have been staying late with me each evening this week since the government’s announcement that schools are to close. Therefore, we have been able to send home some work packs today (Thursday 19 March). The outstanding class work packs which are still being prepared will be available for collection from the school’s Central Mall on Monday 23 March and NOT before.
Thereafter class teachers shall continue to communicate with you using the SeeSaw App and information will continue to be placed on the school website.
In regards to the SeeSaw App, a consent form, which complies with our GDPR protocols, is available for download from the school’s Front Page News section. Simply sign the form, photograph it and email it to school using the following email address:
If you do not have access to a printer, the forms are also available in the Central Mall. Simply sign the form and leave it in the box on the table.
My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your families at this most difficult time.

Dear parents
As the government’s co-ordinated response to the Covid-19 virus continues to unravel, we wish to update you regarding the news that school’s in Northern Ireland are to close.
As of the moment (Wednesday 18 March), we wish you to know that Waringstown Primary School will open to children and staff on Thursday 19 March.
On Friday 20 March the school is closed for an Exceptional Closure. This is to enable staff to prepare a work pack for each child. Within the work pack will be guidance on how we will continue to communicate with you using the SeeSaw App. This is a direct means of communication by which we can send home activities, classwork and homework type activities.
Obviously, the work packs will have to be collected from school and with this is mind the main School Mall will be open on Monday 23 March (8.30am – 3.30pm). We ask that you simply collect the work pack from the school Central Mall, avoiding conversation with any other parents in the building at that time.
The school is being thoroughly cleaned on Monday so we ask that you DO NOT move to the classrooms or attempt to speak with staff who may be in the building. It is vital at this time that we avoid contact with other people.
At this very difficult time, my staff and I extend very best wishes to each member of the Waringstown Primary School community.
My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you all.

Dear parents,
With the fast changing Government response to the spread of Covid-19 we have taken the decision to move our Exceptional Closure from Monday 20 April to this Friday.
The Exceptional Closure will enable staff to prepare work for the imminent closure of schools in a systematic way.
Absent children’s work
Some children are absent from school because they or a family member are self-isolating which is in line with government advice.
It is simply impossible for staff to send Classwork home on a daily basis!
Those children self-isolating will be provided with the work pack when the government takes the decision to close the schools. In the meantime, please use the Educational websites available from our website.
If the school has to close before the work packs are ready for collection, they will be available in the School Mall on clearly labelled desks as in line with our contingency plan.
Thank you for your continued support as we seek to safeguard the whole school community!

Dear parents
As a school, we are aware of the current extremely worrying situation regarding the spread of Covid-19.
As yet, we have received no guidance from DENI nor the EA regarding a school closure. We will of course update you immediately should the decision be made by The Department of Education via our school website.
We have been adding additional hygiene measures in school and stressing the all important need for increased hand washing.
Should your child develop a fever or a persistent cough we stress that it is vital that they stay at home for the seven day isolation period.

As part of the Sustrans Active Schools Travel programme we are holding a DITCH THE DARK DAY on FRIDAY 17 JANUARY 2020.
We are encouraging our pupils to walk, scoot or cycle to school and to wear their brightest clothing, or accessorize their clothes in a bright and creative way (hi vis vests, hats, scarfs, leg warmers, gloves etc). They may also decorate any bikes and scooters in a safe manner.
Parents are encouraged to actively travel with their children on the morning of Ditch the Dark Day.
** If you are unable to walk, scoot or cycle the whole journey from home, please consider a ‘Park n Stride’ option where you are encouraged to drive part of the journey to school, find a safe and suitable place to park up, meet friends and walk the final part of the journey (7-10 mins) – you may find this more relaxing than sitting in traffic. Our suggestions would be to park either close to the Nisa Service Station or close to the Post House Café and Trader D.**
This will be a fun day whilst highlighting the importance of being seen while travelling to school. We would ask for a small donation of £1 per pupil, which will be used by our School ‘Eco’ Council for ECO SCHOOL activities in the future.
