On Friday 5th December, Mrs Hampton brought Finland alive to both P6 classes.
Mrs Hampton, who spent a considerable amount of time in Finland a few years ago delivered a fantastic talk on life in a Scandinavian country. The children then had a question and answer session with Mrs Hampton which proved very popular. The children have come to the end of their Viking topic and the presentation by Mrs Hampton proved a notable conclusion.
The children thanked Mrs Hampton for her wonderful and informative talk and presented her with a tin of biscuits as a thank-you.

As part of their recent investigations, the Primary 6 classes are continuing to look at patterns and in particular symmetry.
During art, Symmetrical butterflies were produced and this helps reinforce the importance of symmetry in the World Around Us.
Don't they look splendid?

As part of the topic "The Vikings" both P6 classes have been investigating boat hulls.
During class investigations, the children were set a challenge to plan and make a boat hull from the material tin foil.
The children had great fun manipulating the foil to form a longship.
Both classes then had the enjoyment of sailing their longships. As an added investigation, marbles were added to weigh each longship down to see which one could carry the most cargo.
An enjoyable investigation culminated with the children talking about improvements they would like to make if conducting the same investigation again.
Well done P6
