P4 travel to Armagh Planetarium

Published: 09 December 2016

As part of their World Around Us topic, the Primary four classes visited the Armagh Planetarium to hear 'The Mystery of the Christmas Star.'

The children watched a wonderful film on the story of the Christmas Star. The two classes then went on to hear interesting facts about meteorites and space travel.

This was followed by the creation of their own space rockets using plastic bottles, weights and card.  The children were given an opportunity to launch the rockets they had made and had great fun doing so!

Everyone had a great day out.

Today P4G got to make robots from 3D shapes.  They really enjoyed planning and putting the robots together and helped each other when things got tricky and tough.  Thinking skills and personal capabilities were certainly tested today (not to mention patience!!)

To celebrate Numeracy week we made robots from 3D shapes.  We really enjoyed planning and putting our robots together.  We helped each other when things looked tricky.  We solved problems together using the materials we had.  We had lots of fun!

Mr Gault's P4s have loved using the geoboard app to make triangles and squares. They also then used the iPads to screenshot their work, and sent it home using the SeeSaw app!

Numeracy week in P4

On Thursday both P4 classes did some detective work involving rectangles, squares and equilateral triangles. We discovered that sometimes when you cut a rectangle in half, you create two squares, and also if you stick two equilateral triangles together on a long edge, you'll create a quadrilateral (four sided shape).
