Sushi Tasting in P7E

On completing their detailed study of Japan P7E had an opportunity to try some of Japan's national dishes. Mrs Erskine was very impressed with how adventurous everyone was!!
The children also painted Arita plates. Arita gets its name form a tiny village in Japan where the distinctive style of blue glaze on a white background was created. The completed display looks fantastic even if we had a few attempts before the final product!

Anne Frank (P7E)

As part of the children's work on the Diaries of Anne Frank, the class created her portrait in the style of Paul Klee. Paul Klee who was a Swiss - born German artist is most well known for his painting Senecio or 'the face'.

Primary 7 have had an extremely busy and enjoyable first half of Term 1. As we finish for the Half Term holiday we thought we would show you some of the things we have been working on.

The class have been busily researching and preparing their presentations on various aspects of life in Japan. Japan is the focus of their World Around Us study on the developed world. The children chose topics such as Japanese food, sport, school, culture, technology and fashion.

They have been busily designing and painting their Japanese fans as part of their detailed study of Japan. As you can see they're definitely Fantastic!!

The children have been enjoying the topic and have already found out a great detail about the Japanese culture and city life in Tokyo.

BEES ARE AMAZING!!

Did you know, there are about 25,000 types of bees in the world, with probably more species awaiting discovery?

Were you aware that most species are solitary, that males cannot sting, and that collectively, they help to pollinate an estimated one third of all the food we eat?

Primary 7 have been learning about bees and how we can help them...

The class have enjoyed learning all about bees and how important they are as well as designing honey posters and labels! It definitely has left them buzzzzzzing especially when we spent a morning enjoying honey on pancakes and toast!

Mrs Erskine's class also finished their compliments of one another. The finished display certainly looks well and is a highlight of our PDMU studies. Please see pictures of all of our displays below.

Primary Seven - World Around Us Studies

Details
Category: Primary 7 2020-21 Archive
Published: 12 October 2020

This term, Primary Seven have been connecting with electricity! We have been working in partnerships to construct a simple circuit, adding a switch and a buzzer, and then making our own version of a sensor pad.

We also have been learning about Victorian Transport and have discovered the history of the sailing ships which crossed the world in the 1800's to deliver wool to Australia and then to return with expensive cargo of tea. We have been composing diary entries of a sailor working on one of these ships and then have been using ICT to present and display our work in the classroom.
