P5 Mrs Peacocke's class took part in a class assembly on the 2012 Olympics.

We have been very excited recently about the 2012 Olympics coming to London this summer. It has been brought closer to home knowing that Natalie Barr, a former pupil from our school, will be carrying the Olympic Torch on its journey throughout the United Kingdom. We have really enjoyed taking part in our assembly about the Olympics and have certainly learnt a lot. We are going to follow the Olympic Values in school showing friendship, excellence and respect.

Primary 5 have been studying the topic of Northern Ireland within the World Around Us. They have been looking at different products of Northern Ireland, one being our very own Tayto brand of crisps! The children from Mrs Peacocke's and Mrs Williamson's class visited the Tayto Factory and were given the opportunity to see first hand how crisps are made, produced and packed ready for the shop. The children really enjoyed this experience and even got to meet Mr Tayto. The children each received a variety pack and a Tayto ruler!

Primary 5 really enjoyed their recent visit to Lough Neagh Discovery Centre situated just outside Lurgan.

At present Primary 5 are studying Living Things within the World Around Us and have been preparing for this visit. The children got opportunities to walk around the extensive grounds, identifying flowers and minibeasts. They also got to hunt for minibeasts and go pond dipping.
The children really enjoyed this educational visit and have gained much from it.
