Primary 2 concluded their topic on Pirates by having a Pirate Themed fun day on Friday 17th June. The children arrived dressed up to their classroom rearranged as a pirate ship! We started the day by making pirate hooks and hats, followed by making ‘beach desserts’. We had a special snack of pirate biscuits, boat-shaped fruit and under-the-sea ‘shark juice’!   After break we had a treasure hunt and got our faces painted. A busy but extremely fun day had by all! P2 concluded their topic on water by visiting SeaPark Beach in Holywood. The weather was just perfect, we all had such a wonderful day, collecting shells and paddling in the sea. A surprise visit from the ice-cream van was extremely well welcomed, not only by the children but also the staff. Enjoy our photographs of a very busy day!

Primary 2 have been learning about water safety at the beach. The children enjoyed a visit from Patrick, a rep from the RLNI who shared a fantastic slideshow with the children as well as allowing them to try on various lifeguard equipment.
We learned about how to stay safe in the water and what to do if we get into trouble or encounter someone who needs help.
We can now identify the different flags flying on the beach and understand the danger they represent. This will be useful for the summer holidays!

P2 had great fun in PE today with Chris Wright working alongside the Primary 6 pupils as their peer mentors, what a super bunch to help guide and assist our class. Chris designed a circuit consisting of 5 stations each consolidating and refining their skills taught throughout the year. The children had great fun and loved working alongside the older pupils, thank you Chris for all your hard work and dedication.

Primary Two have been learning about Pool Safety. The children can now recognise the safety signs that they may find around the poolside and had fun creating their own rules. They are now able to recognise the various dangers in and around the pool and the steps they should take if they should fall into danger.
The week concluded with a fantastic visit from a local lifeguard, Justin. He was able to share with all of the children his experiences of being a lifeguard and answer any queries they had!! Thank you Justin!!
