On Friday Primary 2 Boyce had the honour of leading the school’s Remembrance Day assembly. The class shared a powerful message with the whole school teaching everyone about the meaning of the word Remembrance and the significance of wearing a poppy.
Three children confidently explained what each part of the poppy represents—the red petals for the bloodshed in war, the green leaf for hope and renewal and the black centre for mourning and reflection. A poignant remembrance poem was read aloud, followed by a passage of scripture: “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
The assembly continued with a performance of the song Battle Belongs, sung by all the children together. Five pupils also sang a special solo section.
Each child wore a personally crafted poppy made from flower petals, adding a beautiful and meaningful touch to the occasion.
A special thanks to all the parents who supported their children in learning the song and preparing their speaking parts. Every child was truly amazing—we couldn’t be prouder of them.
