Just before the mid term break our boys’ football team travelled over to Drumgor PS for the annual October Football Festival. The boys were placed in a tough group with Carrick, Mullavilly, Edenderry and Ballyoran.
The first game against Mullavilly was very close and we managed to score late into the game to secure a 1-1 draw. Next, we took to the field to play Carrick PS and we ran out 2-1 winners. A tough game against Edenderry was next with some excellent defensive play on display the game finished 0-0. The final group game against Ballyoran was crucial and the boys managed to win 4-0.
These results secured our boys top spot in the group were we would face Bocombra PS in the quarter final. After a tense match the boys scored a late winner in extra time to win 1-0 and reach the semi finals. Carrick PS waited in the semi final and the result finished the same as the group stages with the boys working so hard and playing great football to win 2-1. The final was again a very hard fought match against Hart Memorial PS. There was very little separating both sides, but all of the boys managed to perform to their very best and won the final match 2-1 to win the Mid Ulster Schools -October Football Festival. All of the boys played their part in this success and represented our school so well. Very well done boys!
