Mrs Peacocke's class once again had over 90% either walking, cycling or scooting to school last week for their 'Getting Moving In May' challenge. A fantastic achievement. The each received a small light (donated by SUSTRANS) that they can attach to their school bag or clothing, to keep them safe as they walk.
This week is the final week of Get Moving In May...so let's 'up' that percentage.

Some of our P4-P7 classes are taking part in the 'Get Moving in May' initiative, in which they are either walking, cycling or scooting to school. Last week Mrs Williamson's class got a weekly average of 78% which won them extra play time. This week, Mrs Peacocke's class scored 93%! Which class will win it next week?

Over the last two weeks we have all been taking part in The Big Pedal (even the Easter bunny has got involved)! To celebrate and highlight all of the active traveling we've been doing as part of this great initiative our P6 pupils have made some SPARK videos.

Tomorrow is the last day of The Big Pedal, and look who has come to take part on behalf of Waringstown Primary School! Lets see can we raise our 26% daily average over the past two weeks.

The Easter Bunny has promised to drop in next week with a treat for all of our pupils! Don't forget our in-house competitions also.

Two more days of The Big Pedal left...let's keep it up! Our average over the past eight days has been around 26% which is superb for a large school like us. Let's see can we increase that average before the weekend!

We're now a few days into THE BIG PEDAL and it's great to see so many bikes and scooters taking over the front of our grounds. As you can see from the picture below, our average is 21.40% of pupils from P1-P7 cycling or scooting to school. That is fantastic for a large primary school with over 400 pupils!
Lets keep this up until the 31 March and see if we can raise our average.

A huge thankyou to Dave Wiggins of SUSTRANS who came into school today to give our P6s some cycling training. The children thoroughly enjoyed their time with Dave, even with the weather being so cold!

The BIG PEDAL has started!! It was wonderful to walk outside today and see so many bikes and scooters being used by our pupils to get to school. Every day over the next two weeks each class will total up how many pupils cycled and scooted to school, and these results will be uploaded onto The Big Pedal website so that we can track our results and try to get some prizes!

The Big Pedal begins next Monday, the 20th March, and will last for two weeks. We are encouraging all our pupils from P1 - P7 to either cycle or scoot to school on these dates. Every day each class will total up how many children cycled or scooted and this information will be uploaded to the BIG PEDAL website. Daily prizes are available!

A huge well done to all our pupils who completed the Active Travel Superheroes incentive over the past three weeks. Each pupil should have received a certificate for their effort and achievement. Keep your eyes open for our next SUSTRANS activity, THE BIG PEDAL, which will begin on Monday 20 March.
