We also want to thank the Council for providing us with ten new 'litter grabbers,' which our School 'Eco' Council wanted so that they could begin their 'litter pickers' timetable as discussed at our previous School 'Eco' Council meeting.

Waringstown Primary School & Nursery Unit
are running a clothing collection in conjunction with Bag2School.
By getting involved in our Bag2School collection you have an opportunity to sort through your cupboards and wardrobes and donate any unwanted textiles to school.
This can include adult and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, bags and teddies. Donations of mobile phones, tablets and digital cameras can also be handed in separately.
Please NO Duvets, Pillows, Curtains, Bedding, Towels or End-Of-Life Clothing
It is very important that the clothes have to be of good quality for reuse in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.
Please try to fill as many bags as you can, don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out as well!
If items could be brought into school and placed in/alongside the bags set out in the Mall from Monday 23 November to Tuesday 01 December this would be greatly appreciated (Any donations of electronics should be directly to the School Office).
Many thanks indeed for helping us with this unique fundraising opportunity.
Thank you!

Thank you for your response to the Food Bank Appeal
We were absolutely delighted with the response to the Craigavon Area Food Bank Appeal which we linked to our school Harvest Celebrations.
The photos reveal the wonderful level of response to the appeal. As usual we have been simply humbled by your generosity and kindness. Thank you for supporting the school in this most practical way.
Food Bank collected the food from school on Thursday. We will transport any gifts over to the Food Bank for you and add it as part of our appeal.
Primary Five helped to load all of the food items into the Food Bank van and the two representatives were amazed at the amount of food donated!
We hope to receive a Certificate of Thanks from the Food Bank soon which in turn we will post on the website.
Thank you once again.

Dear parents
As part of our focus on Harvest in school we seek to continue our link with the Craigavon Food Bank Harvest Collection.
Many of you will already be aware of the good work of the Food Bank and perhaps already contribute to this charitable work through your own church however, we wish to collect food for this charity on Friday 16 October in our Assembly.
We ask therefore, that you consider sending your child in to school with a non-perishable food item/s as part of this appeal. A list of recommended items has been included on the back of this letter, but the Food Bank is thankful for any food donations that are provided to help meet the needs of people in emergency and crisis situations.
All schools which take part in the Harvest Collection will be issued with a certificate by the Food Bank.
If you wish to view the Craigavon Area Food Bank website please see the address at the bottom of our letter.
Many thanks in anticipation of your support.

PRESS RELEASE
June 26, 2015TRANSPORT MINISTER ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF ‘MY WALK TO SCHOOL’ COMPETITION
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy visited Waringstown Primary School in Craigavon and Hart Memorial Primary School in Portadown as he announced the winners of the recent Travelwise NI ‘My Walk to School’ competition.
Fifteen schools from across Northern Ireland were named as winners in the sustainable transport initiative which took place during Walk to School Week 2015. A record number of schools in Northern Ireland registered to take part in Walk to School Week this year and all primary schools were asked to encourage pupils, parents and teachers to get active and to take part in a competition to be in with the chance of winning high viz vests for all pupils in the school. To enter the competition, pupils were asked to use words and images to describe their walk to school with three categories to enter; Foundation, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.Transport Minister, Danny Kennedy said: “Walk to School Week offers a positive platform to improve the travel habits and health of our young people and it is fantastic to see so many schools from across Northern Ireland getting involved.“I would like to congratulateall fifteen schools on winning the competition and also thank all the pupils, parents and teachers that walked to and from school and took the time to enter the competition.
“Encouraging children to walk to school has major benefits for the whole community. It reduces vehicle pollution, decreases traffic congestion and helps to keep children fit and healthy. This year’s prize of high vis vests for pupils also helps to highlight the importance of safety while walking to young school pupils.”
