During February Mr Gault's P4 class had the highest amount (69%) of Active Travel Journeys to/from school recorded and they'll hold the trophy for this month. Many classes should see an increase in their Active Travel journey's with 'The Big Pedal' soon to begin. Notes about this will be coming home shortly.

We are into the fifth month of our 'Wrigley Litter Less Campaign' and today five more of our P7 girls (who will be representing us at the Eco Conference later this year) went out to litter pick inside and outside of our school grounds. The girls litter picked on the adjoining laneway at the bottom of the path and along the main road up to the entrance of our main gates. Today the girls collected one bin-liner (6kg) of litter.
As an Ambassador Eco School we are delighted to be involved in such a campaign, which is a joint initiative of the Wrigley Company Foundation and FEE, currently running in 15 countries. We want to not only reduce litter but also change long term behaviour.

Our School ‘Eco’ Council are inviting you to take part in another competition, which is to create a new ECO CODE.
This year, we would like our ECO CODE to be made as a character (which will be used as an ECO Council logo and replace the one on the top left of this note).
What is an ECO CODE?
- Your Eco-Code should be your mission statement. It should demonstrate, in a clear and imaginative way, your school's core values and commitment towards improving its environmental performance and striving towards a sustainable future.
Competition details:
-
In your own time, create an ECO CODE CHARACTER (and their Mission Statement).
-
It can be created either using pen & paper, or on the computer.
-
Give it to Mr Gault before FRIDAY 08 FEBRUARY
-
When the School Eco Council meet again they will bring all the entries and will select a winning one which will be used as our School ECO CODE and LOGO.
- Competition entry form is attached to this article.

By getting involved in our Bag2School collection you have an opportunity to sort through your cupboards and wardrobes and donate any unwanted textiles to school.
This can include adult and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, bags and teddies. Donations of mobile phones, tablets and digital cameras can also be handed in separately.
Please NO Duvets, Pillows, Curtains, Bedding, Towels or End-Of-Life Clothing
It is very important that the clothes have to be of good quality for reuse in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.
Please try to fill as many bags as you can (there are spare bags in the mall if you need any), don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out as well!
If items could be brought into school and placed in/alongside the bags set out in the Mall from Monday 26 November to Tuesday 02 December this would be greatly appreciated (Any donations of electronics should be directly to the School Office).
Many thanks indeed for helping us with this unique fundraising opportunity.
