After winning their regional finals on Thursday 23rd February, the Girls' 5 a side Futsal team progressed to the Northern Ireland Finals held in Shankill Leisure Centre Belfast. This IFA run event consisted of the 8 regional winners. Waringstown travelled to the event with much anticipation.
The girls' started off the tournament in great form winning their first 3 matches against Oakgrove, Ballymacash and Lowood scoring 8 goals without conceding a single goal. The fourth match was against the favourites Bush Primary School. A really tight game saw Bush take the lead in the final minute to win the game 1-0. Waringstown knew that to qualify for the final they had to win their remaining games against Ballymoney Model and St Teresa's, which they did 3-0 and 2-0.
This meant that the girls' had reached the final against Bush Primary School. This times the girls dug deep and managed to draw the game 0-0 in normal time. This resulted in a penalty shoot out and we are pleased to say Waringstown came out on top after 3 fantastic penalty saves by our brilliant Waringstown keeper. This resulted in girls' being crowned the Northern Ireland 5 a side Futsal Girls' Champions. Well done to all the girls' on this magnificent achievement. Everyone in school is so proud of you!!
