Our Primary 7 pupils enjoyed a fantastic morning of learning, teamwork and creativity when they took part in a STEM workshop led by representatives from Hyster-Yale. We were delighted to welcome Mr Johnny Seifert, a parent in our school, along with Mr Graham Cowan and former pupil Mr Stephen Hilary, who delivered an engaging presentation and hands-on workshop for our Primary 7 pupils. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about their roles at Hyster-Yale and gained a fascinating insight into the engineering and manufacturing sector. The session helped pupils understand how the STEM skills they develop in school can be used in the workplace and can open the door to a wide range of rewarding future careers.

Following the presentation, pupils took part in a hands-on LEGO engineering workshop. Working in teams, they followed instructions to build a LEGO forklift, just as workers would on a production line. To add to the challenge, some groups had missing parts and had to complete a request form to order replacements, giving them a real insight into the processes used at Hyster-Yale.
