Our Primary 5 pupils will continue to carry on the important role of Reading Buddies for our Primary 1 children in Term 3. This successful initiative brings older and younger pupils together to share the joy of reading while developing essential literacy skills.

During each session, the Primary 5 pupils read a variety of engaging stories to their Primary 1 partners. They proudly model strong reading skills by focusing on accuracy, fluency and expression, helping the younger pupils to understand how good readers bring stories to life. The Primary 1 pupils always listen attentively and are clearly motivated by working alongside their older reading buddies.

The programme continues to be hugely beneficial for both age groups. Our Primary 1 pupils gain confidence, enthusiasm and enjoyment in listening to stories, while they develop their own understanding of books and storytelling.

For our Primary 5 pupils, the experience is especially valuable. Acting as reading role models helps them to build confidence in their own reading abilities, deepen their understanding of texts and strengthens their communication skills. Supporting younger children also encourages responsibility, leadership and kindness.

The Reading Buddies programme continues to be a wonderful example of learning together as a school community. We are extremely proud of our Primary 5 pupils for the care, effort and enthusiasm they show and we look forward to continuing this rewarding experience in Term 3.
