Primary 5 rolled up their sleeves and got creative for Pancake Tuesday! The classroom was filled with excitement as pupils toasted and decorated their very own pancakes.
The children explored the history of Pancake Tuesday, learning how the tradition began as a way for people to use up rich foods like eggs, sugar and butter before the start of Lent. They also discovered some of the special customs linked to the day, including pancake races and tossing competitions enjoyed in different parts of the world.
Once the learning was done, it was time for the best part, decorating! Pupils chose their favourite toppings, from sugar and syrup to marshmallows and lemon juice. It was a memorable, hands on learning experience that blended tradition, creativity and lots of delicious fun. Well done Primary 5!
