Victorious at Campbell College Rugby Tournament

This morning our rugby team travelled by convoy up to the beautiful grounds of Campbell College, Belfast, as we were invited to play in their rugby tournament.

When we arrived the boys enjoyed a packed lunch and then made their way over to 'pitch 6,' which was to be our base for the afternoon. We played our first game at 1.50pm against a physically strong Greenisland Primary School. Their team ran hard at us and got the first try, although this seemed to help our players bond and we came back very strong. All of our squad players got a run in the game, making crucial tackles and having some big runs! We were delighted to end this game with a victory!

Without any rest time, we were straight into the next game at 2.10pm, this time against Ben Madigan. Our players, a little more confident now, started to play some quick paced rugby. Powerful running from our P7s, followed up with quick hands and great speed from our P6s saw us run in numerous tries! A second victory.

Thankfully we had time to rest before our last game, which wasn't until 2.30pm, against Sullivan Prep. Our rest served us well, as we started very strong once again scoring some quick tries. It was clear that our boys were gelling well together, keeping the ball alive throughout the game, ensuring we finished strong.

The boys were all treated to a burger provided by Campbell College at the end of the tournament, along with T-shirts and certificates (which will be presented in assembly).

Mr Somerville and Mr Gault were delighted with the performance, both on and off the pitch. Our boys shock hands with all their opponents and showed great manners to the organisers. Well done boys.

A huge thankyou must be given to Campbell College for hosting this event, and also to our fabulous parent supporters who helped with lifts and much needed 'cheering!' You're all part of the Waringstown Team....thankyou
