On Wednesday 18 April the hockey team travelled to Stormont for the NI Hockey Finals.
The girls played superbly as a team, winning their first two matches easily with results of 5-0 and 6-0 respectively. Their next match was against a tough team from Friends. The girls fought hard and came away with a win of 3-0.
They played Towerhill and Victoria to complete the section, winning 2-0 in both matches. These final results placed them top of their table and automatically through to the Cup Section. To qualify to the Semi Final the girls had to play Maine and Bush Primary. Again a superb effort was given by all, winning both matches 2-0.
It was a nerve wrecking Semi Final as the girls were up against a very strong team from Armstrong. Although we scored an early goal against Armstrong, they then came back with an equaliser. The match remained tense until the very last minute when Armstrong managed a second goal! Armstrong automatically qualified to the final and eventually won the Cup. The overall standard of Hockey from the girls was outstanding, they could not have given any more in terms of effort and were a credit to Waringstown Primary School.
