A huge thank you for all your donations for our Bag2School collection. The items were collected today and will be making their way to Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.
The weight of all our collections came to 619.5kgs, which has raised £278.78 for the school. This is the biggest amount we have raised through this initiative over the past few years. The money will be used by the School Eco Council to buy items for our children throughout the school.
Many thanks indeed for helping us with this unique recycling and fundraising opportunity.

We are delighted to announce that as of Monday 26 November, 2018, we are now an Ambassador Eco School. Eco School judges came into school to meet with our School Eco Council, staff and pupils. They were given a tour of our school and met the P7 girls looking after the 'Wrigley Litter Less Campaign.' In the afternoon we were informed that we were being given our Second Green Flag and due to how high a quality our Eco work has been, we were asked to become one of 14 Ambassador Primary Schools in Northern Ireland!
Since beginning our Eco Journey in 2015 we have received two Green flags and every pupil that has served on our School Eco Council over the four years has now received a special 'Eco School NI' badge. This is a huge achievement for the school and the community as we look to develop our community's sustainability.
Thank you for your continued support.

As P4 and P6 were visited by staff from N.I. Water to talk about 'Water and Health,' we've been given a drip-free water bottle for every pupil. Your child should receive theirs at some point this week. We're asking pupils to take them home and write their name on the bottle using permanent marker.
These bottles have been donated by N.I. Water to encourage us to stop using the 'drink once' plastic bottles and reduce our plastic use.
A huge thank you to N.I. Water for their time and generosity.

Congratulations to our World Around Us team in school for successfully achieving the Fair Active Award until June 2020. This is a fantastic achievement for a Primary School, with only a handful of Primary Schools having achieved this award.
To achieve this 'standard' the W.A.U team had to prove that it met certain criteria and submit evidence of Fairtrade work in school including lesson plans, assemblies, display boards and much more. This is a topic that Primary 6 children study in W.A.U and it also helps with our 'Green' flag awards. Congratulations to all concerned!

Waringstown Primary School is bringing the world into its classrooms! The school recently earned a Level 1 Global Learning Certificate in recognition of its continued success in implementing the Global Learning Programme (GLP).
Since joining the GLP in April 2017, the school has committed to providing education for a fair and sustainable world. This means that its pupils receive teaching that not only helps them learn about our planet, but also enables them to contribute to creating a better world.
GLP Coordinator Orla Devine offered her congratulations to the school. She said, “A huge well done to Waringstown Primary School. It’s wonderful to see the school embracing global learning in this way. Excellent progress has already been made and I wish staff and pupils every success as they continue their global learning journey together.”
The GLP helps schools in Northern Ireland embed global learning through the provision of teacher training, guidance and resources. 50% of all primary, post-primary and special schools in NI have received support from the programme since its launch in early 2015.

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved our Global Learning Programme (GLP) Introductory Certificate and are now a Global Learning Programme School.
Over 300 schools in Northern Ireland have got involved with the GLP which strengthens the capacity of schools in Northern Ireland to bring global learning into their classrooms. Global Learning can be found throughout our school in numerous year groups through our topics and being part of the GLP means that we can avail of teacher training, many more resources and guidance grounded in the NI Curriculum.
Being a GLP school also aids us as we work towards our second Eco Green flag.
