Our P6 classes recently enjoyed an exciting trip to the Navan Centre, Armagh, as part of our World Around Us topic on the Vikings. It was a fantastic interactive day where history truly came to life!
Throughout the day, we learned about Viking culture, their way of life and the important role they played in history. We took part in a range of hands-on activities, including writing in runes and using a quill and ink, giving us a glimpse into how people communicated long ago.
One of the highlights of the visit was meeting a Viking warrior, who shared fascinating facts about Viking life and demonstrated some of the weapons used in battle. We learned about swords, shields, spears, axes and discovered what made the Vikings such skilled warriors.
The trip was both educational and enjoyable, helping us deepen our understanding of the Vikings while bringing our classroom learning to life. A great day was had by all!
