Fun In The Sun For P1!

As part of our Fun In The Sun Topic P1 have been investigating ‘change’.  They made ice lollies to explore how a liquid changes to a solid when frozen and turns back to a liquid when it melts! We had lots of fun eating our lollies in the sunshine after our investigations!  Click on the link below to view our photo gallery:

Primary 1 Enjoy A Visit To The Farm

Primary 1 concluded their Farm Topic with a fantastic day at Streamvale Farm!  The sun was shining and the children were able to see lots of lovely animals.  The children also got to help the farmer to feed the animals and learnt how to milk a cow.  We finished off our day with a yummy picnic and had some fun playing in the park!!

Primary 1 Enjoy the Topic of 999

Primary One have been exploring the topic of 999.  They have especially enjoyed visits from the 3 main emergency services – The Police, The Fire-Fighters and the Paramedic.  Highlights have been trying on uniforms, squirting water with the fire-fighters’ hose and going up in the ambulance lift!

Primary 1 Are Enjoying Their Baby Topic

P1 had a very special visit from baby Tessa and her Mum to help them with their Baby Topic.

Mrs Martin brought in lots of equipment that she needed for the baby and talked to us about how she uses it. We asked lots of interesting questions and learnt lots about babies. Her big brother was especially proud of baby Tessa!

A big thank you to mother and baby for coming to visit Primary One!

Primary 1 Write and Post Their Letters to Santa!

Primary 1 were in for a big surprise when they went to the Post Office to buy stamps for their letters to Santa - Santa and his elf were in the Post Office!  The children put the stamp on their envelope and posted it into the big, red Post Box.  Let's hope Santa can deliver all that we asked for as we are all really nice!!! Take a look at our gallery to see how we got on:

Pumpkin Day in Primary 1

Primary 1 had a fantastic day investigating pumpkins.  We learnt that they are vegetables and how they grow from a seed in a pumpkin patch.  We looked at the pulp and the seeds and carved a friendly pumpkin face.  Mrs Jenkinson made delicious pumpkin soup for both P1 classes to taste.  It was yummy and very healthy!  We had 2 pumpkin stories – ‘Pumpkin Soup’ by Helen Cooper and ‘The Pumpkin Patch Parable’.  The parable contained a Christian message.  A bible verse can be found on the back of the masks which we made during Structured Play.  Enjoy looking at the photos. Can you guess who we are behind our masks??

P1 Investigate the Number 3!

Primary 1 had a special day investigating number 3. They used counters to show different ways to arrange 3.  They then drew those arrangements.  The grand finale was when they chose their favourite arrangement of 3 to put on their iced biscuit - yum!!

First Days In Primary 1

It’s been a busy but exciting few days for primary 1 pupils as they settle into school life – and it’s been a lot of fun too!

The boys and girls have enjoyed getting to know one another and their teachers. Friendships are blossoming as the children become familiar with new school routines and exciting learning experiences.  View our gallery below to see how the Primary 1 children have been getting on.

Primary 1 Enjoy A Special Visit From Our School Crossing Patrol Officer

Recently Mr McKittrick visited the Primary 1 children in their classroom.  They looked at his uniform and learnt how his coat is fluorescent so he can be seen in the dark and that it has reflectors to help the cars see him.

The children then went outside to practice how to cross the road safely with his help.  They know to hold an adult’s hand, wait until Mr McKittrick calls them and to walk in front of him.

We remember to always say ‘thank you’ as he helps us to cross the road.
