Forest Schools

P4 Forest School Week 4

Yesterday saw both P4 classes have the opportunity to build dens using bamboo canes, plastic sheets, clothes pegs, and tent pegs. The children had to work in groups to build their dens and think about the different hazards that may influence how they had to appraoch the task.

The attached powerpoints continue their Forest School diary.

P4 Forest School Week 3

Yesterday both P4 classes had the opportunity to make their own Bug Hotels during Forest School. The children had to work in pairs to peel elder wood and use a tent peg to create small holes in the wood. They then tied their pieces of elder wood together and placed them somewhere that they would be safe and would attract insects to move into. It wil be interesting to check how the 'residents' are getting on in a few weeks.

Have a look through the diary powerpoints to see the children at work.

P4 begin Forest School

Today saw our first session of Forest Schools take place. Both P4 classes (one before lunch and one after lunch) had an opportunity to explore the school grounds, and then try to recreate a map of what they remembered using only the materials they could find around them.

Pupils had lots of opportunity to work as part of a team, and to talk about what they had made.

Thankfully the weather wasn't too bad either!
