London Blog 2023 - Day 2 and 3 thoughts from Mr McCambley

Updates follow from Mr McCambley, summing up days two and three of the  trip.

Day 2 was another great day for everyone! The weather stayed dry and bright which really helped us.

The Houses of Parliament was our first stop where we enjoyed a guided tour through the Palace of Westminster. It was very kind of our local MP to call with the group and to also give each child a King Charles commemorative key ring. We really did appreciate the gesture!

After a very quick break we travelled on to Wembley Stadium. The step count rose drastically today. However, everyone remained in good form for our evening meal.

The pièce de rèsistance was the ‘Lion King’ performance in Lyceum Theatre.

We tried to make calls home this morning. Several parents did not pick up the call. Please don’t be afraid to answer a withheld call in the early morning as that will most likely be us calling with a young ‘Londoner’ anxious to speak with you.

Thank you for your positive comments via the Blog. These really do help to bolster confidence whilst we are away!

Thank you too to Mr John Egerton for all he’s doing technically as he oversees our school website!

Day 3 was go, go, go.

Thankfully, today was dry if a little chilly.

The children enjoyed a whistle-stop tour of The Tower. A little retail therapy in the gift shop stroked a few names off the list of expected presents!

St Paul’s Cathedral was our second visit of the day. The children behaved very well and enjoyed being in such an historic and landmark building.

Every child managed the ‘flight’ on The London Eye which was so special. The weather was good so we had a fine view over the London skyline.

Thank you to all of the staff for their 24 hour care of the children. You have no idea what goes on during a 4 night residential visit and I thank the staff now personally and on your behalf.

A sincere word of thanks to Mrs Morrow for her sterling work with regard to the organisation of the London Trip.
