WPS Wish P7 Leavers A Fine Farewell!

This is a video presentation on behalf of the school for our P7 Leavers. We wish each one of them well as they embark upon the next phase in their education. We always look forward to the Primary 7 Leavers Assembly, which due to the Covid-19 restrictions has obviously not taken place this year. However, this is a small way of saying farewell to a much loved group of children. Please be assured that we look forward to better and safer days when the children can return to school and tell us how they are getting on.

A special thank you and fond farewell to some 30 families who end their association with our Primary School as their youngest child now leaves us. Thank you for your years of constant support. We have valued your loyalty and encouragement down through the years. Working, Playing and Succeeding Together is our motto and you have embraced this wholeheartedly as we've striven TOGETHER to give only the very best to your children. Thank YOU!

Seesaw...Preparing for August 2020

Dear parents,

First of all, a massive thank you for working alongside us as we’ve tried to provide you with learning materials and guidance during this time. Seesaw has been a fantastic way for us to communicate with each of you and we plan to use it as we move forward into the 2020-21 Academic year.

When you pick up your child’s materials on Monday 29 June, along with books and reports, you’ll also find a note regarding Seesaw and a new QR code for your child’s next class. Please get this set up as soon as possible so that it’s ready for August.

In order for this to run smoothly, we will be ‘archiving’ the class on Friday. Final Pick-up - MONDAY 29 JUNE

Dear Parents,

On Monday 29th June the school will be open between 9.30am and 3pm for you to pick up your child’s books, report and new Seesaw QR code for their next class.

Nursery - P3 folders are set out in the Mall and P4 - P7 folders are set out in the assembly hall. (Tables are clearly labelled). Please follow the instructions regarding setting up the new Seesaw account as soon as possible (The one you'll have been using up until this point will have been archived)

We would ask that you continue to respect the 2 metre social distancing guidance that’s in place and come and go as quickly as possible.

Could we also ask that if you need to return any reading books or any other resources that belong to the school, that you clearly label them and leave them on the table where you pick up your own child’s resources from? This will help staff get resources prepared for August.

Sustrans - Final Home Activity

A message from Dave Wiggins, our Sustran's Officer;

Hello there!

First of all a massive congratulations to all staff, parents and most importantly pupils of Waringstown Primary School for achieving the Sustrans Gold Award. Your hard work over the past four years has really paid off.

The final activity I will be sending out this year is called ‘Routes To School’ and is designed to get you and your family thinking about how they will travel to school in September.

Maybe they have been walking and cycling more and enjoying it or maybe Mum/Dad/Carer will be working from home more and have more flexibility around travelling to and from school.

We are now a GOLD Sustrans school

We are delighted to have received the GOLD SUSTRANS award due to the efforts of pupils, parents and staff in all the active travel initiatives that have taken place over the past two year.

In 2017/18 we received SILVER and before that in 2016/17 we received BRONZE. As a school we have consistently improved in our efforts to encourage and use active travel so thank you all for supporting us with this.

For The Attention Of All Nursery Parents

Mrs Emerson and Mrs Gilpin would like to say goodbye to their nursery children whilst observing good standards of social distancing on Wednesday 24 June between 11.30am and 12 Noon.

To that end we ask that you collect your nursery child's final gift pack. Please report at the nursery lobby should the weather be wet otherwise proceed through the nursery side playground if dry. We will be standing behind a table and ask that parents keep to the 2 metre rule when waiting in line and also do not allow children to run around or mingle with others.

Please do not worry if you cannot make it between this time as we will leave any gift packs that are left in the school Mall on a table clearly marked Nursery.

Sustrans - 'Cycling Skills' Home Activity

This week I have developed a short video and a simple worksheet showing two key cycling skills. These skills are ‘Figure of Eight’ and ‘Slow Cycling’.

These skills are key for the whole family and families could learn them together and have fun.
