On Monday Primary 2 had a pirate-themed party day in school. We dressed up at pirates or fairies, read pirate stories and sang pirate songs. We decorated our own pirate hat and made treasure maps. We had pirate-themed snack and made under-the-sea desserts. We finished our day by getting our faces painted and a pirate tattoo!
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who supported and purchased books from our School Book Fair in February.
Your generosity at the School Book Fair has meant that Scholastic have given us credit to purchase a total of 160 new books for our school. Our Primary 5 and 6 classes were delighted with a delivery of new class novels which the children will have an opportunity to read next year.
Your continued support plays a vital role in enriching our pupils’ learning experiences, and we are so grateful for your involvement in our school community.
Thank you once again for helping us foster a love of reading!
Primary 1 went on an imaginary flight to the sun. An absolutely fabulous and memorable day!!
Thank you so much to you all for turning your children out so well, they were wonderful and really looked the part!
We hope they will remember this special day forever and treasure our little keepsake book with all the special P1 memories they will receive at the end of term.
Enjoy looking at all our photos!
Primary One enjoyed a fun day at their Very Hungry Caterpillar Party after spending so much time learning all about caterpillars & butterflies!
We got to enjoy lots of yummy treats and play some games.
We made our own fruit salad by following The Very Hungry Caterpillar's recipe, it was DELICIOUS!!
P7 Mrs Humphrey's class has proudly completed the Zero Waste Champions Programme, marking a significant step in their journey towards sustainability and environmental awareness. As part of this exciting initiative, we were delighted to welcome George Gillespie from the Northern Ireland Resources Network (NIRN) into our school for a very special celebration.
To honour the pupils’ hard work and commitment, George presented each child with a beautiful wooden badge—a unique and meaningful keepsake. Even more special, these badges were crafted from trees that had fallen during Storm Eowyn, giving new life to what nature had left behind.
In recognition of the school’s collective efforts, we were also awarded a certificate of achievement, along with a bird box and a bat box—all made from the same reclaimed wood. These will be proudly displayed and installed in our school grounds, providing safe habitats for local wildlife and serving as a lasting reminder of our commitment to protecting the environment.
The Zero Waste Champions Programme has inspired our pupils to think differently about waste, reuse, and sustainability. Through hands-on learning and creative thinking, they’ve shown that even small actions can make a big difference.
A huge thank you to George Gillespie and NIRN for their support and for helping us celebrate in such a memorable and eco-friendly way.
This week, our Primary 5 and Primary 6 pupils had a fantastic outdoor learning experience when Dave Wiggins fromSustrans visited our school to lead an exciting orienteering activity!
The playgrounds became a mini adventure course, where pupils worked in teams to navigate using maps, solve clues, and find hidden markers. Dave introduced the children to the basics of orienteering, including how to read a map, follow directions, and work together to complete a challenge.
The activity was not only great fun, but it also helped pupils develop important skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and spatial awareness. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged, active, and enthusiastic about learning outdoors.
A huge thank you to Dave, from Sustrans, for bringing this brilliant experience to our school!
Primary 3 had a fantastic time during their trip to W5!
The children explored a wide range of exciting, hands-on activities that sparked curiosity and creativity.
One of the many highlights was the dinosaur-themed zone, where they examined fascinating exhibits.
The adventure didn’t stop there! The children enjoyed climbing and discovering new challenges on the play frame ,which encouraged both teamwork and physical activity.
It was a full day of learning, laughter and exploration – an experience the children won’t soon forget.
Primary 2 enjoyed a fun-filled day at Seapark beach on Friday. The weather was wonderful and the children enjoyed a lovely ice-cream when we arrived and then played in the sand, collecting stones and shells.
After our picnic lunch, we waved goodbye to the beach. The children had a super day!
During our recent whole school assembly, we proudly celebrated the recipients of Mr McCambley’s Golden Postcards. These special awards recognise pupils who have demonstrated outstanding work, exemplary behaviour or exceptional manners. A huge well done to all who received this honour, your efforts have not gone unnoticed and this recognition is truly well deserved!
