World Diabetes Day is a global occasion on which people with diabetes, health professionals, diabetes advocates, media, the general public and government organisations unite to raise awareness of diabetes. Your participation – both in the build-up to and following 14 November – is key to the success of the campaign. Taking part can be exciting and hugely rewarding!
This year some of our classes joined together to raise awareness of diabetes. The girls painted their nails blue, while the boys wore blue socks. The pupils also participated in a diabetes awareness walk on the MUGA pitch. Pupils also promoted the use of bracelets to identify diabetes. Rufus the bear was introduced to pupils and they were informed of his role in helping children learn about diabetes when first diagnosed.
