Northern Ireland Hockey Finals

The girls’ hockey team headed to Stormont to play in the Northern Ireland hockey finals.  There were twenty-four teams from all over Northern Ireland playing in the tournament.  The team came second in their section which put them through to the cup.  Eight teams were left to fight for the title, we were through to the quarter finals!

It was a tough, close match, the girls giving their all but Fairview managed to win 1-0.  Although, initially disappointed not to have progressed further the girls can take comfort in the fact they were one of the top eight hockey teams in Northern Ireland.

A huge thank you to Suzie Parkes who helped to coach the team this year.

Primary 5 Enjoy Computer Club

As the Computer Club continues Primary 5 boys and girls are developing their skills in Coding.  The children have been working on Projects such as designing their own Maze game, creating games within Apps such as Minecraft.  Everyone is given the opportunity to develop their own code.  They have been using iPads and Laptops during Computer Club.

Double World Champion at WPS

We are very proud to say we have a double World Champion in our midst at Waringstown Primary School. This is an unbelievable achievement and the result of incredible dedication and hard work. Our sporting hero attended the WKO 2023 World Championships in Barnsley during the summer holidays gaining a very impressive tally of 6 medals (2 gold, 2 silver & 2 bronze) for his talent in the ring and on the mat.  Kick boxing is a very demanding and skillful sport and our Waringstown Kickboxing King can now add the Low Kick World Championship and the U28kgs Boxing World Championship titles to his growing collection of awards. What an achievement!

Half Marathon Club Completes Celebration Mile!

Primary 5 children recently completed their Half Marathon of 13.1 miles.  The children ran a celebration mile within the grounds of the school, where parents and grandparents were able to join in and support the runners.  Our special guest, the Lord Mayor, Mr Paul Greenfield presented each runner with a medal, certificate and race pack. Each pack was kindly sponsored by ABC Council, PSNI Road Policing, Lurgan Credit Union, Dewarts and AB&C Insurance.  A special thanks to all for their sponsorship. Mrs Williamson was delighted with the children's enthusiasm throughout the 7 week programme and would like to congratulate each child on their Half Marathon achievement.  A huge thank you also goes to our Primary 5 volunteers who undertook the responsible role of marshalling the route.  Everyone worked together to ensure the event was a success.  Take a look through the gallery below:
